Camden County Solid Waste Authority on Tuesday approved annual budgets for the solid waste fund and the curbside collection fund for fiscal year 2026 after a staff presentation and no public comment.
Nancy Gonzales, finance staff, told the board the budgets cover the period July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and that the documents had been advertised and a public hearing held June 12. "We're requesting that you adopt the annual budgets for both of those funds as required by the state of Georgia," Gonzales said during her presentation.
Commissioners moved and seconded to approve the budgets as presented. After no discussion and with no public speakers registered for the item, the board voted to approve the solid waste and curbside collection budgets; the meeting record states the motion carried but does not record an individual roll-call tally.
The adopted budgets were presented as attachments to the commissioners' meeting packets and follow the statutorily required notice and public-hearing process described by Gonzales. The board recessed the Solid Waste Authority session and reconvened the county's special-called meeting after the vote.
No amendments or line-item changes to the solid waste or curbside budgets were recorded during the Solid Waste Authority portion of the meeting, and no public comments were made specific to solid waste during the hearing.
