The Camarillo City Council approved a fifth amendment to City Manager Greg Ramirez’s employment agreement that raises his salary 4% to $326,350.75 annually, effective July 1, and adjusts associated benefits, a staff report said.
Assistant staff reported the amendment followed a closed‑session performance evaluation and contract negotiations held May 28. The staff presentation said the compensation change increases benefits to $197,269.25 annually and included a provision for 100% sick‑leave cash‑out at the end of employment. The staff report noted sick‑leave cash‑outs are not subject to CalPERS retirement obligations and cited Government Code section 54953(c) in its notice of the closed‑session process.
Councilmember Candace Tennyson (Vice Mayor) and others expressed support for Ramirez, citing department hires and management performance over the past years. After discussion there was a motion and second; the roll call vote was unanimous: Councilmember Martinez Bravo — yes; Councilmember Santangelo — yes; Councilmember Tremblay — yes; Vice Mayor Tennyson — yes; Mayor Kevin Kildee — yes. The motion carried.
The city manager contract amendment was presented as a personnel matter reviewed in closed session; staff recommended approval of the two listed items (the amendment and the conforming resolution for compensation classification and benefits). No additional policy changes were adopted as part of the amendment.
The measure will take effect July 1 as stated in the amendment presented to the council.
