Bridal Wood, the county clerk, told the commission she will present an order to "notice the public" so the county can adjust district and precinct lines in time for upcoming elections. Wood said the notice is intended to begin the legally required public-notice and comment process under county code and to allow the county to complete changes before the relevant election cycle.
Wood told the commission the county will use the National Change of Address (NCOA) process and an upcoming statewide voter registration system conversion as part of the work to identify inactive or moved voters and to update voter rolls. She said staff wants to begin the public-notice process ahead of the next election cycle so precinct adjustments are completed on time.
Commissioners directed staff to issue the public notice; staff said they will bring back a formal order later showing the proposed boundary and precinct lines after the public-notice period and required steps under county code.
No vote on final boundaries was taken at the meeting; the action recorded was authorization for staff to publish notice and to return with a formal order outlining the proposed maps and legal steps.
