Council approves street closures for two church events, grants live-music permit

The council also approved a request from New Covenant Church to close West Cherry Street between North Railroad Street and South Locust Street for a back-to-school worship and prayer event on Aug. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and authorized live music as required by section 241-6.c.3 of the Palmyra Borough code of ordinances.
Motions for both closures were moved and seconded and passed by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting minutes. Staff will coordinate traffic control and ensure event organizers meet any conditions attached to the approvals.
The approvals are routine event permits; council did not attach additional conditions beyond standard traffic and safety coordination discussed by staff.
