The Plymouth Select Board approved a revised personnel policy Monday to take effect July 1, select board members said. The revisions largely reflect terms negotiated with the police union (three-year contract) and the fire union (one-year contract) and updates to align town practice with federal and state labor-law requirements, staff members said.
Town staff and counsel reviewed the document and produced a redlined version of the proposed changes for the board. The town manager told the board most changes stemmed from union negotiations and compliance items; the document will be distributed to all employees, departments and boards once approved.
A select board member said the redlined copy was clear and the changes were thoughtful. The board moved, seconded and approved the personnel-policy revisions by voice vote.
Officials said the policy is a living document that may be updated as laws and negotiated agreement terms change and that staff will circulate the final approved policy to employees and relevant boards and commissions.
