The Administration & Public Works Committee approved an 11-month contract extension with DynaG Energy Services for municipal electric supply to align procurement timing with the city's aggregation contract and continue access to renewable energy credits tied to the city's 100% renewable electricity goals.
Cara Pratt, the city's sustainability and resilience manager, told the committee the recommended extension is the second renewal of the existing third-party contract and reflects updated market-based pricing received the day of the meeting. "Periodically, we receive renewed electricity pricing through a third party in order to both save money for the city and also to procure renewable energy credits to comply with CARP and our 100% renewable electricity requirements through that plan," Pratt said. She added the updated prices were slightly lower than the rounded numbers in the packet but that staff recommended the 11-month term because it aligns aggregated market timing.
Council members voted 4-0 to approve the extension. Pratt said aligning the city's municipal procurement with aggregation timing helps present a larger, more attractive market offering to suppliers and preserves access to renewable energy credits used to meet the city's sustainability commitments.
