The Flagler County School Board on June 24 recognized and introduced internal promotions to school leadership.
Superintendent Lashaka Moore announced that Mike Rinaldi will serve as the next principal of Matanzas High School; Moore invited Rinaldi to the dais for a photo at the meeting. Moore also said Katie Hanson will serve as the next principal of Buddy Taylor Middle School and that the district will formally introduce her at the July meeting.
Moore said most of the named assistant-principal and principal appointments come from within the district and praised the promoted employees for years of service. Board members and the superintendent framed the appointments as part of a broader effort to promote internal candidates and provide leadership continuity as some principals leave their posts.
The board did not take a formal roll-call vote recorded in the minutes at the meeting for these announcements; the superintendent indicated bringing full appointment paperwork and introductions forward at subsequent meetings where required.
