Flagler school board ratifies teacher and support-staff contracts

The Flagler County School Board on June 24 unanimously ratified new collective-bargaining agreements with the Flagler County Education Association (FCEA) and the Flagler Education Support Personnel Association (FESPA).

Board members approved both contract ratifications during the meeting’s personnel section after brief remarks thanking negotiating teams and staff. The board’s vote on both items was unanimous.

Board members publicly recognized district staff and union negotiators for their work bringing the agreements to conclusion. A member said the FCEA agreement includes provisions related to insurance and supports the opening of a district clinic; the board also thanked staff who participated in bargaining and personnel work. The board did not take additional personnel actions tied to the contracts at the meeting.

Both ratifications were moved and seconded on the record and carried. No formal dissent or recorded abstentions were made during the votes.

The contracts will now proceed according to the district’s implementation process, including any changes to payroll or benefits enrollment schedules handled by human-resources staff. The board did not specify implementation dates at the meeting.

Board members emphasized appreciation for ‘‘the back and forth’’ work between management and union representatives that produced the agreements and noted that the contracts are intended to support and retain employees as the district opens new services such as the clinic mentioned during discussion.

The board took no separate legal or statutory references when voting; details of the contracts will be available through the district’s human-resources office once administrative steps are completed.
