The Lindsay City Council unanimously approved continuing the practice of placing delinquent refuse collection charges on the county property tax roll.
During the June 24 meeting, Kyler Tucker, city staff, explained the city has used the property tax roll for refuse collection charges for several years to improve collection rates. He said the process requires extra processing but yields higher payment compliance and that no fee increases were being sought for the coming cycle.
Council asked clarifying questions and confirmed the staff recommendation to proceed as an annual administrative action. The motion to adopt the resolution passed on a 5-0 vote.
Staff indicated the item will be brought forward on the same schedule in future years unless council directs a policy change.
