Lawrence County approves CDBG revision to boost Elwood City housing rehab funds

Lawrence County commissioners voted June 24 to approve a revision to a 2022 county Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) contract that will move remaining project funds to the borough of Elwood City’s housing rehabilitation program.
Amy McKinney, the county planning director, told the board that once final bills were paid on an ADA project the contract came in slightly under/over budget by about $11,000; she said the county will submit a revision to DCD and move the funds into Elwood City’s “housing rehab” program. McKinney said the revision will increase the borough’s housing rehab allocation to $21,573.89 for the contract period.
Commissioners moved to approve the proposed resolution to effect the budget revision. The transcript records a roll‑call vote with the three commissioners voting yes; the board noted the borough is aware of the change and that the contract ends next year, so the additional funds will need to be spent before the contract expiration.
McKinney said the moved funds are sufficient to complete a small additional project and that the borough supports using the funds for rehabilitation work; she also noted the county must submit the revision to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCD) for approval.
The board approved the change on a recorded vote; McKinney said no further planning office items were on the agenda.
