District to renew Skyward agreement, officials cite integration and state reporting benefits

Marion County School Board members approved a second amendment renewing the district’s agreement with Skyward, the integrated student information and enterprise resource planning vendor, at Tuesday’s meeting.
District technology officialsasked for the renewal to preserve the district’s integrated system for HR, finance, payroll, student records and scheduling. Technology director Ben Benvenuti told the board Skyward reduces data errors, handles high user volumes, and provides role‑based access controls important for privacy and operational efficiency.
Benvenuti said Skyward’s integrated platform and state‑reporting responsiveness save staff time and reduce errors associated with legislative changes. He acknowledged that larger and more feature‑rich systems exist but said their deployment costs can be substantially higher; he cited a multi‑million‑dollar example used by much larger districts and said the district will evaluate targeted augmentations rather than wholesale replacements.
Board members asked about future efficiency steps, including report generation and reducing reliance on external spreadsheets. Benvenuti said staff can explore augmentation options and apply in‑house reporting resources where appropriate.
The board approved the amendment by unanimous vote. The district described the renewal as a cost‑effective, consolidated solution that avoids additional integration costs associated with multiple systems.
