Joy Hollingsworth elected Seattle Park District board president; Nelson named vice president

The Seattle Park District Board elected Board Member Joy Hollingsworth as board president for 2025 and Board Member Nelson as vice president during a June 24 special meeting at City Hall.

The votes finalize leadership for the board’s 2025 year and occurred at the start of the special meeting called to consider the park district’s annual report and a carry-forward resolution. Joy Hollingsworth accepted the nomination and was approved in a roll-call vote of 6–0. Board Member Nelson, who was not present, was likewise elected vice president by a 6–0 roll-call vote.

The nominations began when Councilmember Moore nominated Hollingsworth for board president. Hollingsworth said, “I accept your nomination,” before the clerk called the roll. The roll-call record shows Hollingsworth, Kettle, Moore, Rink, Sacca and Solomon all voting in favor; none opposed.

Hollingsworth then nominated Board Member Nelson for vice president; board members voted 6–0 in favor. The minutes for the board were also approved by the body during the same meeting.

The board majority handled the leadership elections by voice and roll-call votes; no amendments or abstentions were recorded. The election sets the board’s internal leadership for upcoming meetings and any committee assignments tied to those officer roles.

The special meeting adjourned after the board completed its business.
