Committee clears Board Bill 15 to install speed humps in St. Louis' 14th Ward

The St. Louis City Public Infrastructure and Utilities Committee on June 25 gave a due-pass recommendation to Board Bill 15, a measure to install speed humps at several locations in the Fourteenth Ward.

Alderman Aldridge, sponsor of Board Bill 15, told the committee the bill would place speed humps on multiple streets in the ward and said he would add a map of the College Hill location to the bill before perfection on the floor. "These are speed humps to try to slow down traffic mainly in Saint Louis," Alderman Aldridge said, describing locations on Hebert and another street and noting a College Hill location between Blair and John.

The committee's vice chair, Schweitzer, asked whether the map would be added during perfection on the floor; Alderman Aldridge replied that he would add the map as an exhibit at perfection because it does not change the legislation’s substance. "That makes total sense to me," Vice Chair Schweitzer said.

Alderwoman Boyd said she had no questions. Alderman DeVotty likewise indicated no questions and expressed appreciation for Aldridge's work on behalf of constituents. No members of the public offered testimony on the item.

After discussion, committee members moved and seconded a motion for a due-pass recommendation on Board Bill 15. With no objection called, Chair Browning declared, "Board Bill 15 is passed out of committee with a due pass recommendation." The committee had four members present at roll call.
