Sussex County Council on June 24 approved a resolution to extend the boundary of the Sussex County Unified Sanitary Sewer District (Millville area) to include the Hocker property. Engineering staff said the applicant received preliminary site-plan approval from the Town of Millville in June 2024 and that the project will be responsible for system connection charges in place at the time of hookup.
Christopher Ashman (presenting for the engineering department) said the engineering department received a request from Davis, Bowen & Friedell on behalf of Hocker Millville LLC for parcels adjacent to the Millville service area and that county notice procedures were followed; staff reported no comments in support or opposition as of the hearing.
With no public speakers, Councilman Lloyd moved to adopt the resolution to extend the district boundary; the motion was seconded by Mister McCarran and carried unanimously (Mister Lloyd: yes; Mister McCarran: yes; Miss Gruenbaum: yes).
Staff noted that system connection charges will apply at the time of connection and that the parcels are located along Route 17 (Roxana Road) within a state planning level 2 area. The county’s engineering department will proceed with administrative steps to amend the sanitary-district boundary as approved.
