Harlingen CISD renews interlocal SRO agreement with City of Harlingen (first extension)

Harlingen CISD trustees voted unanimously Wednesday to approve the first extension of an interlocal agreement with the City of Harlingen for the district’s School Resource Officer (SRO) program.
District staff member Miss Nunez told the board the proposed extension is the first of three possible renewals and that the contract contains no substantive changes from the agreement approved in February 2024. “There have been no changes to this contract,” Nunez said on the record.
The administration recommended approval to maintain SRO coverage under the existing terms. The board approved the interlocal agreement by unanimous vote.
Staff did not propose any changes to the scope of SRO duties or to district responsibilities during the presentation; implementation will proceed under the existing interlocal terms.
Trustees recessed to executive session later in the meeting for separate personnel matters.
