Board adopts FOSS K–5 science curriculum; approves curriculum-assessment screener agreement

The Upper Dublin School District board approved multiple education committee recommendations, including adoption of the FOSS K–5 science program and a Curriculum Associates agreement for a screening tool, during its May legislative meeting.

During presentation of the education committee slate, Ms. Drennan (administration) said, "I want to highlight how excited we are for FOSS FOSS pathways and the adoption of the K 5 science program. It is in alignment with the steel standards, and it's pretty incredible what it does in classrooms regarding the number of investigations that students do, and it really turns our learners into scientists. This is a multi year agreement, and we're super excited to bring it on board." The board approved items A through H on the education agenda by voice vote after a second and no recorded objections.

Administration also clarified that the Curriculum Associates agreement is related to a screener "which is something that we've been looking for for a while," and that this is listed as agenda item G. Board members had no further questions during the legislative meeting.
