County staff said the Legion and the National Guard obtained the tank for display years ago and the post asked for help to restore and plaque the exhibit. Commissioners approved the contribution by motion and voice vote and amended the motion to specify that the funds would come from FY2025 contingency funds.
County discussion noted a bylaw or custodial obligation typically requires upkeep of the donated tank, and commissioners said the donation will support that maintenance and recognition of the veteran named on the plaque.
