The Columbia Heights board approved the district’s annual application for federal Title grants for the 2025–26 school year, with staff using provisional budget figures for Title II and Title III until the federal government finalizes allocations.
Director of Teaching and Learning Tara Tuckrell told the board the application covers Title I, II, III (including Part A) and Title IV and that the district had budgeted preliminary entitlements for Title I and Title IV. She said the Minnesota Department of Education requires the application to be submitted by June 30 even when federal allocations are delayed.
Tuckrell said the district temporarily places half of the prior-year award in the application for allocations that are not yet confirmed so coding and planning can proceed; the district plans to amend the application during the fall and spring amendment windows once final allocations are known. "All budgets and activities must be approved by the Minnesota Department of Education prior to releasing the funding," Tuckrell said.
Board members voted to approve the preliminary Title application; the motion carried.
