City staff recommended and the council’s finance committee approved entering a design agreement with Cunningham and Associates for the Uptown multipurpose path project, funded largely by a grant award.
Patrick, city staff working the item, said the city was awarded $396,000 in grant funds from the Ohio Office of Budget and Management for construction of a multipurpose path that will run along North and South Bridal Street, starting at East Friendship and ending at East Smith. He said the stretch was selected because the city's multi-use path steering committee ranked it among the top five projects and deemed it an achievable, “low-hanging fruit.”
The city conducted a qualifications-based selection process and the committee "unanimously agreed, that Cunningham and Associates should be the consultant selected for this work," Patrick said. The finance committee moved, seconded and approved the recommendation; committee minutes record a voice vote: "All in favor? Aye. Vote? Motion carries."
Action: The committee approved entering a design agreement with Cunningham and Associates for the Uptown multipurpose path. The project is to move forward to final contract drafting and subsequent construction planning when design and bidding are complete.
Staff did not provide a firm construction timeline during the committee discussion; funding is from the state grant and will be supplemented as required during design and bidding.
