Administrators told trustees that local policy BED references the district’s local procedure, and the governance handbook is the local procedure for regular board meetings; the handbook amendment aligns the procedure with current practice.
The board discussed implementation timing and confirmed the change will take effect at the July regular meeting (agenda postings will show a 5 p.m. start that begins with closed session). Trustees also noted that, if a closed session lasts unusually long, the board may stop and resume so the public does not experience indefinite waits.
A vote to adopt the redline amendment to paragraph 3.a.1 of the handbook passed 6‑0. Trustees said a new signature sheet will be prepared to show the update.
