Board approves LCAP and proposed budget; staff presents local dashboard indicators

The Pomona Unified School District Board approved the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the districts proposed budget on June 25, 2025. Staff also presented the California Dashboard local indicators tied to the LCAP.

Under Education Code sections 52060-52077, the board held the required public hearing on the LCAP (the public hearing had been held on June 11) and staff presented the plan for board approval as item 9.02. The board voted 5-0 to adopt the LCAP.

District finance staff presented the proposed budget (item 9.04), explaining the district used the May Revision assumptions and that the state legislature had reached a preliminary agreement (referred to in the meeting as Senate Bill 101 and accompanying "trailer bills"). Staff said the governor had already signed the budget agreement prior to the June 30 deadline and noted the district will have 45 days after the state finalizes trailer bills to revise the local budget. Trustees voted 5-0 to approve the proposed budget as presented.

In a related informational presentation, staff reviewed the local indicators from the California School Dashboard required under Ed. Code 52064.5. Staff said local indicators measure district progress in areas the state does not directly assess, including school climate, parent and family engagement, and access to a broad course of study. Staff reported they are submitting local indicator data to the state dashboard and anticipate that the indicators will reflect "standard met."

Board members praised the presentations and asked no further substantive questions before moving to votes. The transcript records motions, seconds and unanimous votes for both the LCAP and the proposed budget.
