Construction progress reported at multiple schools; secured entries, kindergarten additions and LRC work underway

Rob Schmidt, the district's construction project manager, briefed the board on ongoing construction across the district, saying projects are on schedule and outlining work at multiple buildings.
At H.D. Storm, Schmidt said exterior door frames and window openings for a new main office were installed, lintels were in place and tuckpointing and grout work were underway. He summarized interior reconfiguration: a secure main-office entry, two new kindergarten rooms, a new art room, a new music room, an OTP sensory space, staff bathrooms, a respite space, a new conference room and staff workroom. "We are on schedule as of right now. The exterior door frames are being installed. You can see the new windows for the main office are cut open. The lintels were installed today, and the tuck pointers have finished all the grinding of the grout, and they actually started putting, grout back in the new grout back in," Schmidt said.
At the high school, Schmidt said the LRC remodeling is well advanced: old classrooms and lockers were removed, new walls and the Chrome Depot workspace are in place and the layout will allow the district to secure the library and the Chrome Depot separately. He said the Rotolo building had been largely gutted and window details causing previous leaks were being corrected.
Schmidt reported that some mechanical equipment had been delivered to storage while other pieces were delayed but expected. Roofers were staging equipment to begin roofing work; a number of floors required saw cutting to run new plumbing stubs for kindergarten rooms and staff bathrooms.
Board members asked about storm damage following recent hail; Schmidt said there was no structural building damage but some outdoor mechanical-coil fins were bent and required repair. He said AGS sustained the most tree and courtyard damage from the storm and the maintenance team cleaned debris promptly. The board also thanked Bulldog Moving Company for moving classroom contents within a single day so demolition could proceed on schedule.
Ending: Schmidt said communications with school communities (photo montages and before/after images) will continue, and maintenance and contractor schedules will be shared with principals and staff as work proceeds over the summer.
