The high school C wing experienced a heating failure during winter that required an extra day closure; facilities staff explained the wing was constructed circa 1995 and that a comprehensive HVAC and shell upgrade is necessary. Mark said the HVAC work for C wing will require phasing over multiple summers rather than a single‑summer replacement because of the scope and interdependencies with ceilings, flooring and other trades. He said the district hopes to start initial phases in summer 2026.
Facilities staff also outlined smaller projects underway: classroom evacuation and shelter placards (standardized and color-coded across buildings), planned flooring replacements at Gustafson and JB Nelson, and continued deferred‑maintenance work with priorities set by warm/safe/dry standards.
Board members were invited to summer site tours of active projects; staff said they will continue to monitor contingencies and construction sequencing and will report back with more detailed schedules and cost estimates as bids are awarded.
