Commissioners approve advertising July hearing to adjust community corrections fees

Sherburne County commissioners approved a motion to advertise a public hearing on July 22 to consider changes to the county’s 2025 community corrections fee schedule.
Corey (community corrections management) told the board his team reviewed the 2025 fee schedule and said the county will receive reduced subsidy from the Minnesota Department of Corrections starting July 1. “We would like to be proactive with addressing certain fees that we can adjust,” he said, noting supervision fees are controlled by state law and cannot be increased; the focus of the proposed hearing is on fees such as drug testing and program fees.
Commissioner Danialowski moved to approve advertising the public hearing for July 22, 2025; Commissioner Felber seconded and the motion carried on an aye vote. The staff recommended any new fee schedule would take effect Aug. 1, 2025, if approved after the hearing.
The board gave formal approval to advertise the hearing; no fee changes were adopted at this meeting.
