Summary

Chair Morgan told the Committee of the Whole on June 25 that two requests to purchase Butte-Silver Bow property will be held in abeyance until the Land Sales Committee reports back on July 8.
The first communication, from Patty and Chris Solomonson, asked to purchase a portion of land adjacent to their property at 17 Tullamore Street; the chair said the request will "continue to hold this in abeyance pending a land sales committee meeting, which I believe is July 8." The second communication, from Corey Biggers of 65 Orofino Gulch Road, asked the council to approve purchase of land north of Orofino Road and east of Brown's Gulch Road; the chair said that request also will be held pending the Land Sales Committee recommendation.
The Biggers request specified the purchaser's primary goal: to fence the property for livestock use and to spray and treat the parcel for noxious weeds. Chair Morgan said both items will remain on hold until the Land Sales Committee provides a recommendation at its July 8 meeting.
Why it matters: requests to sell or transfer government-owned land can affect neighbors, agricultural use, local weed-control responsibilities and county property inventories; sending these requests to the Land Sales Committee is a standard step for further review.
Details: Land Sales Committee meeting set for July 8; the committee will report back to the Committee of the Whole before any sale or further action.
