Lewis County declared a county-owned building at 2025 Northeast Kresge Avenue surplus to county needs and authorized staff to dispose of the property by listing it for sale with a licensed broker, the board heard June 24.
Doug Carey, capital facilities manager, told commissioners the declaration makes the property surplus and that staff will dispose of it "in compliance with county code chapter 3.30, by listing said property for sale with a broker who deals in that kind of property and who has all the licenses required by law." The action was included in deliberation items approved by the board.
Why it matters: declaring county property surplus is the required first step before disposal; staff said the property will be listed with a professionally licensed broker and disposed in accordance with county code.
The measure was approved as part of deliberation items 25-168 through 25-175 by a 2-0 vote.
