Chair Morgan, presiding over the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners Committee of the Whole, announced on June 25 that the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) grant cycle closes June 30 and urged interested organizations to apply. Morgan also said the council plans a special meeting on July 1 to allow the finance and budget committee to introduce the preliminary fiscal year 2025–26 budget.
The chair said, "there is a TBID grant cycle that's ending June 30. So if there's any entity or organization that's interested in applying for some funding...that is due on June 30 at, I believe, 05:30." Morgan directed applicants with questions to contact Kelly Hazlett at the Butte Chamber for application details.
On the schedule for next week, Morgan said the finance and budget committee will present the preliminary FY25-26 budget at a special meeting set for July 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers. "This will be an opportunity for the finance and budget department to introduce the budget, but it also gives the commissioners just time on an agenda to talk about only the budget that's being set forth," Morgan said, describing the meeting as a dedicated opportunity to review the budget proposal.
Morgan added that the meeting will be published in the newspaper once the chief executive calls for the special meeting, and that the body is expecting to have a quorum. Commissioner Anderson later noted a possible schedule conflict with a fire advisory meeting the same night, which Morgan acknowledged as an item commissioners will need to manage.
Why it matters: the TBID grant deadline sets an immediate timetable for tourism-related groups seeking funding, and the July 1 special meeting begins the public process for the next fiscal year's budget, starting formal review and public visibility of proposals.
Details: TBID applications are due June 30 at 5:30 p.m.; applicants should contact Kelly Hazlett at the Butte Chamber for criteria and submission instructions. The special meeting to introduce the preliminary FY25-26 budget is scheduled for July 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers; the chief executive will publish the agenda.
