Kelly said the group aimed to prepare practical, technology-neutral guidance rather than tying rules to specific software or hardware. “One of the things that we found we found was that we were kinda waiting on some more guidance from the state ... but their recommendations were gonna be slow coming,” he said. He added the district’s goal is to promote “ethical and responsible use.”
The board treated the AI guidance as part of a group of policy updates on a first reading; members were told the guidance will be shared again with students and staff and revisited as AI evolves. Trustees were also directed to the May presentation by administrators for additional background materials.
