After a detailed presentation of rental rules, rates, age limits and operational protocols for the new City Center, the White House City Council voted to table the policy so staff can refine resident/nonresident rates and membership packages.
The White House City Council voted to table a proposed City Center rental policy after hearing a presentation and receiving feedback from council members on rates and membership structure.
City staff presented the policy as a comprehensive guide for the new City Center's banquet hall, training room, conference rooms and co‑working area. The presentation outlined reservation rules, an online reservation app, cancellation and refund policies, age limits for renters, a prohibition on possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages, restrictions on decorations and requirements that renters return the facility to its original condition.
"This proposed policy aims to maximize the utility of our city center for the community while ensuring its long term viability and protection," said Mr. Martinez, who presented the draft policy to council.
Council members focused discussion on pricing and membership packages. Staff said pricing was benchmarked against a mix of nearby co‑working options and other rental spaces and acknowledged uncertainty in forecasting demand for a municipal co‑working model. One council member suggested a clearer separation between resident and nonresident rates so residents receive a larger discount. City staff said those changes and other packaging options could be refined and brought back to the council.
After discussion, a council member moved to table the policy to allow staff to return with revised rates and membership options; the motion carried on a voice vote.
