Nina George, a Mobile resident and workforce-development professional, urged the Mobile City Council on June 24 to create a city-led workforce development office to better connect residents with jobs coming to the city.
“Currently, Mobile gives to strong organizations like Swabton, Mayo, SDC, and the Chamber of Commerce,” George said. “We have puzzle pieces, but not enough hands putting them in place.”
George told the council she has met with city staff and recommended a centralized strategy that would coordinate existing partners, run year‑round career awareness campaigns and host a city-sponsored college-and-career fair.…
