County staff reported on June 25 that the commission had received a letter from a resident, Deborah Tennant of Belgian Lane, regarding the NextEra Marl project and that NextEra Energy had sent a response through Caitlin McCormick pointing the county to an information website.
County Administrator Reneta McClure said she had expressed displeasure that NextEra representatives were not available for the scheduled in-person meeting after many members of the public had submitted correspondence and requested a local presentation. McClure said she asked the company to be more active in community engagement and to visit the county to describe its plans.
No formal action was taken; the correspondence was entered into the meeting record and included in the commission’s packet. Commissioners and staff noted public concern about the project and said they wanted direct engagement from the company, but no meeting date was set.
