Bedford County HR reports hires and recruitment trends; many applications coming from Indeed

The Bedford County human resources office briefed the committee on recent hiring activity and applicant sources, reporting a mix of onboarding and offboarding and several conversions from part-time to full-time positions, particularly in EMS and corrections.
The HR director said the office onboarded 15 employees and offboarded four across the organization for the month and that several part-time EMS employees are converting to full time — including four paramedics and one AEMT expected to move to full time later in the month. The department also reported an open part-time Veteran Service Officer position has closed and that interviews will be scheduled.
“Predominantly, almost all of our traffic is coming from Indeed,” the HR director said, noting the county website and Facebook were the next-highest sources of applicants and that the county accepts paper applications and resumes if applicants request in-person service.
The HR office said it maintains active job postings across multiple platforms, deploys paper applications when requested by departments, and forwards resumes to hiring managers. The HR director also noted the executive assistant/bookkeeper role in finance has been filled and a sheriff’s deputy vacancy was filled to replace a retirement.
Committee members had no substantive questions; staff said a more detailed quarterly report on convenience-center traffic-counts will be provided by solid waste staff at the next meeting.
