Owner’s representative: Liberty and Thomas school projects near completion; security vestibules and other work planned

An owner’s representative told the committee that recent school construction and renovation projects are reaching completion and that additional follow-up work is scheduled.
“Liberty will be completed Monday,” the owner’s representative said, adding that the Thomas project is finished and only IT work and parking-striping remain for Liberty. A contractor walkthrough and punch-list review were presented to the contractor, the representative said.
The representative said roofing work at Community Roof Elementary would be completed the following day and that security vestibule work for school entrances has been bid and is expected to begin in August. The county used local contractors heavily on recent projects; the representative estimated about 75% of the subcontractors on two agricultural buildings were local.
Additional work completed from remaining project funds included a new sump pump, drainage, sidewalk, parking-area repairs, roof fixes on an older building and two annex rooms finished with paint and flooring. The representative said grading and structural work were satisfactory and that some extra grading was performed at no additional county cost.
School administrators told the representative they expect increased student enrollment; a principal asked for 32 additional lockers. The owner’s representative said the county is gathering pricing for that request and other remaining small items.
The representative reported approximately 1,474 hours charged to school-and-county projects and 167 hours of office time on pay applications, specifications, billing reviews and contracts oversight.
