Mason County commissioners approved a resolution June 24 amending the 2025 budget that increased authorized expenditures in the general fund by $152,685 and reduced appropriations in other funds by $29,707 after adjustments to beginning fund balances.
County staff presented detailed line items for the supplemental appropriations. Jennifer Beyerly, support services, said the largest general-fund additions include a $99,525 expenditure for a Mason Lake Park feasibility study and $35,660 for jail body scanner warranty and video storage. "All of the line 1 entries are the changes to cash," Beyerly said while walking commissioners through beginning-balance adjustments.
Other changes included a $1,000,000 increase in the Road Fund to move Matlock expansion project money out of ending fund balance and into the active project account, and a reallocation that moved $192,505,100 from the North Bay Sewer Utility Fund to the Beards Cove Water Fund for the Rochester Larson project, a change staff described as a reallocation of large project funds across utility accounts.
Commissioners moved and approved the resolution after a public hearing that produced no public comment. The board approved the supplemental appropriations by voice vote.
Beyerly and county staff answered technical questions about how the adjustments reflected actual January 1 cash balances rather than budgeted amounts and noted several smaller fund adjustments, including changes in veteran assistance, lake management funds, and an increase in treasurer operations revenue reflecting actual cash.
The county clerk recorded the motion and the subsequent affirmative vote. Commissioners did not propose additional amendments at the meeting.
