Deltona finance director: city wins GFOA budgeting award for 20th consecutive year

John McKinney, finance director for the City of Deltona, announced the city received an excellence-in-budgeting award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the 20th consecutive year and thanked the finance team and public participants who helped produce the budget.
“We were notified by the Government Finance Officers Association that we have won for the 20th consecutive year the excellence in budget award for this wonderful budget document that the city commission, staff, and through the input of our citizens, develop,” McKinney said. He specifically recognized finance-team members Keon and Tory for working late nights and weekends.
McKinney said the award reflects multiple workshops and collaborative development of the budget document over a five-month preparation period.
