The Union County Public Schools Curriculum Committee voted to forward a renewal of Renaissance digital resources to the full school board after staff described how the suite would be used for assessment and student practice.
Committee chair called for approval of the agenda and, after a presentation, moved that the item be sent to the full board. Casey Rimmer, Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction, told the committee the Renaissance package includes STAR Math (used as the district's math assessment), Freckle (an online math-practice platform paired with STAR results) and MyON Reader (a longstanding digital book platform). Rimmer said the three products work together so teachers can identify student performance with STAR Math and then assign practice through Freckle; MyON provides students with digital books.
Committee members made the motion and seconded it; the committee voted to forward the item to the full board for approval. The committee did not discuss contract dollar amounts or vendor terms during the public portion of the meeting.
The item will next appear on the full Union County Public Schools board agenda for review and possible approval.
