Vigo County highway staff told commissioners that crews reopened roads after a June storm and continue cleanup and tree-removal work along county roads.
A county highway representative (identified in the transcript as Larry) said most roads were reopened by Thursday after the storm and that crews are doing summer work while making targeted clean-up runs to remove limbs and address leaning trees. County staff asked residents to call county dispatch during business hours, or dispatch after hours, to report hazards so crews can be notified.
The highway representative said several staff attended training with Duke Energy; the training helped establish contacts that allowed the utility to assist more quickly during recent storm response. He reported coordination with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) on local projects: a viaduct and resurfacing along State Road 150 are part of a larger resurfacing project extending toward the state line, and INDOT is working to complete guardrail so a viaduct segment can reopen. The representative said sidewalks in West Arrow and on National/Third have been made handicap accessible as part of INDOT work.
On local work, staff said cobble-structure replacement on Rosedale Road is underway: one structure is complete and the manufacturer is building the next; once delivered the contractor will schedule the next closure. Staff also said Hasselberger is working on demolition of a bridge structure and plans for reconstruction are expected to follow.
No formal action was taken; the item was an informational update and staff described operational next steps and contact procedures for residents to report road hazards.
