Fairbanks North Star Borough School District board adopts FY26 budget after amendment to assume higher state funding

The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District Board of Education voted to adopt the district’s fiscal year 2026 approved budget — $230,272,277 in all funds — after first amending the budget to reflect a higher state revenue estimate tied to House Bill 57.

Dr. Minor, an administration official who authored the budget memo to the board, told members the documents before them reflected changes made after the legislature passed HB 57 and the board’s June work session. He summarized revenue changes including a $2,780,000 increase in local contribution, $650,000 in additional federal impact aid, and a $4,578,752 reduction in foundation funding compared with the district’s earlier recommended budget.
