Board members expressed concern about turnover in certain special-education positions and discussed several personnel items on the agenda, including the temporary removal of two items related to the SAC aftercare program.
During personnel remarks, a trustee pointed to a resignation on the personnel list (cited as "Mrs. Cole") and said she had "gone way above and beyond her contractual hours" in service to Lincoln Middle School students. Trustees noted several resignations and contract declines for paraprofessionals and special-education staff and welcomed a slate of new hires the agenda listed, with start dates expected in September or as specified by contract.
Two personnel items (identified in the agenda as P-12 and P-13 and referenced during discussion as related to the SAC aftercare program director and teacher salaries) were removed from the agenda for additional discussion; one trustee said those items would be returned to a future meeting in July or possibly August to allow further review and input. A trustee asked whether a short-term replacement would be sought for a temporary position and the district replied it may be difficult to fill but would explore internal coverage or short-term arrangements.
The personnel and P-section motions presented at the meeting (as a block) were approved by roll-call vote after that discussion. Board members asked administrators to follow up on staffing coverage and to report back on recruitment efforts for hard-to-fill positions.
