The Wausau Board of Public Works on June 24 accepted Northstar’s proposal to provide abatement consultant services for the planned demolition of the Wausau Water Treatment Plant and meter shop.
Staff reported Northstar was the only proposer present at the mandatory walk-through. Board members reviewed the proposal’s pricing: $875 for bid-document preparation; $95 per hour for project oversight; and $3,275 for asbestos sampling, based on an estimate of 140–160 samples at $15 each. The board moved to accept the proposal and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
During discussion, board members confirmed the proposal included a lump-sum fee for preparing the bid package and unit prices for work during demolition. Alan (staff) confirmed the hourly oversight rate and the asbestos-sampling estimate. The board’s acceptance authorizes staff to proceed with Northstar as the consultant for abatement scope development and oversight in the upcoming demolition procurement.
