Coach Moore thanks commissioners after BOSS Youth League wins national title; students recognized

Coach Moore, co-founder of the BOSS Youth League, thanked the Montgomery County Commission at the June 2025 meeting for county support that helped the program travel to and win a national championship in Miami, Florida.
"We are not here to request anything. We're just here to say thank you," Coach Moore said, describing the program's 15-year history and saying BOSS has helped "over 5,000 youth in and around Montgomery County." He told commissioners the program had averaged 35 to 40 participants per semester and described recent regional titles as well as the national trip.
Several youth who participate in BOSS spoke briefly at the meeting. One participant, identifying himself as Nevermore, said the program "helped me a lot, with my confidence" and called it "real fun. It's a real good program." Coach Moore said the team brought back trophies from the national competition and local tournaments and presented commemorative shirts to commissioners as a token of appreciation. During his remarks the coach singled out Commissioner Carmen Moore Ziegler for helping secure county support that enabled travel to the national event.
The presentation was followed by photographs of the youth and coaches with commissioners. No formal county funding appropriation was announced as part of the recognition item on the agenda.
