County staff recommended and the board approved prequalification of multiple contractors for upcoming projects, including electrical, plumbing and construction firms. Commissioners voted to approve the contractor qualifications as presented.
On bid 24-25-22 (piping and plumbing for the White City Water Plant), staff reported Empire Pipe and Supply submitted the single responsive low bid of $555,044.66; the board voted to award that contract to Empire Pipe and Supply.
Staff also presented bids for other project components. For one electrical/materials contract included in a federal grant package, staff said the apparent low bidder (Anderson Marine) had a numeric error on the bid form that when corrected made Anderson Marine the second-low bidder; BCL Contractors was the actual low bidder at the corrected amounts. Staff recommended awarding to BCL Contractors contingent upon the funding agency’s review and approval because federal funds were included in the project.
Commissioners and staff discussed contractor backgrounds and schedules; staff said the electrical and piping work is expected to be coordinated with grant requirements and project timelines, and that some work aims to be completed before hunting season, per discussion at the meeting.
The board approved the reported awards and qualifications by recorded motions; staff said federally funded awards will proceed once the funding agency signs off.
