District 25 said CEC candidate numbers rose about 22% this cycle and voting showed a large spike on day 13; the district held a multilingual voting party at PS 32 and results will be announced in June.
A District 25 presenter updated the President's Council on the Community Education Council (CEC) election on May 19, saying the district experienced increased candidate participation and a late spike in voting activity.
The presenter said there was a 22 percent increase in applicants compared with the previous cycle, representing about 260 parents or applicants running for CEC seats. Voting ran from April 25 through May 13; turnout data showed a pronounced spike on the thirteenth day of the voting window.
To boost participation the district organized a CEC voting party at PS 32 (530 Fifth Avenue) where staff and volunteers provided voting assistance, computer access for families without Nexa accounts, multilingual support in Spanish and Chinese and light refreshments. The presentation noted participation by the superintendent, principals and parent coordinators.
The presenter said CEC terms will run July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027, and that official election results will be announced in June. The district also listed upcoming calendar items: District 25 President's Council on June 16 (executive board elections), DPAC on May 29 and a CEC award ceremony on June 11.
No challenges to the CEC vote were recorded during the President's Council meeting.
