Brentwood board outlines summer programs, registration and posts enrollment figures; schedules charter hearing and property workshop

The Brentwood Union Free School District on May 21 detailed its summer program schedule and registration plan, released updated enrollment figures and announced upcoming hearings and workshops.
District staff described programs starting July 7 and running through August, with offerings for incoming first graders through high school students. First Grade Jump Start runs July 7–25, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., at Pine Park. Super Scholars Academy for entering grades 2–5 runs July 7–25, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., at North Elementary and Northeast. STEAM Camp for entering grades 4–6 is July 28–Aug. 1, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., at Oak Park Elementary. Inventors cohorts for entering grades 7–9 meet July 7–11 and July 21–25, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Science Research Institute for grades 9–12 runs July 28–Aug. 22, 8 a.m.–3 p.m., at the high school.
Other offerings include summer music programs for entering grades 7–12 (July 7–Aug. 1), a five‑day high school program for students entering grades 9–12 in late August, and a summer golf academy July 7–25 at Oak Park Elementary for students completing grades 4–12. Bilingual and ENL elementary programs at Oak Park run 8 a.m.–1 p.m.; those registrations require paper applications and an in‑person registration event is scheduled for June 4 for parents who cannot register online. Digital registration is also available on ParentSquare.
The district reported enrollment figures in the meeting packet: as of March 28, 2025, total enrollment was 17,816; the district closed on April 25 with 17,789. The packet also listed special education enrollment totals by level and related services counts and the number of students attending out‑of‑district K–12 placements (481).
The board announced a charter school hearing set for June 3, 2025, and a board workshop concerning a building the district purchased on Brentwood Road scheduled for June 5, 2025; the district asked the community to attend the June 5 workshop to review ideas for the new property.
Staff noted the extended school year program for special education will run July 1–Aug. 9, 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m., by invitation. Food service (breakfast and lunch) will be provided at summer programs. The district encouraged families to register through ParentSquare or attend the in‑person registration on June 4 for paper applications where required.
No formal board votes were required to present the schedule, enrollment figures and meeting announcements; those items were provided for information in agenda section F‑1 through F‑7 and in the meeting packet.
