He also urged homeowners and businesses to manage work hours in extreme heat so workers have shade, water and breaks or can work different hours.
When asked about rules restricting evictions or utility shutoffs during heat emergencies, the mayor said he did not know off the top of his head and would have staff follow up with an answer.
