The Clay County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to the joint powers agreement with Joy Powers to allow the purchase of a dozer and authorized the chair to sign the updated agreement.
Commissioners discussed whether the dozer purchase had been discussed previously; the board member asking the question was told the item had not been discussed at a prior meeting. A county representative said Joy Powers routinely obtains sign-off when they make purchases and that John offered to attend the meeting but the memorandum provided sufficient information.
A motion to approve the amendment was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote. Commissioners did not provide the purchase price or additional contract terms during the public discussion. One commissioner said they had other concerns to raise at a separate meeting but indicated there was no doubt the equipment was needed.
The amendment was presented as an update to the joint powers agreement that will allow the solid waste entity to proceed with the dozer purchase; the meeting record shows the commission approved the amendment and authorized the chair to sign.
