Emergency management staff updates council on alert system and hurricane preparedness materials

The chief reported 2,485 people were registered to receive alerts through the system.
The presentation highlighted available rescue resources and high-water vehicles and noted that shelter locations are posted in the city’s preparedness materials. Staff said the resources listed are proven partnerships and urged residents to use the alert system and preparedness materials to respond ahead of storms.
Council thanked the chief for the update and staff said they would continue outreach to increase registrations and public awareness of shelters and resources.
