Chandra Burdette, chief executive of the Citrus County Educational Foundation, updated the school board on the foundation’s fiscal year results and program activity.
Burdette said the foundation directed roughly $608,899.77 back into direct student programming this year — items such as reading pals, mentoring, math field day and science fairs — and handled $729,000 in pass‑through dollars for community partners. She reported $398,000 in scholarships and $429,000 in fundraising revenue, while noting annual operational costs are about $225,000.
“We are proud to say that 93¢ of every dollar goes back to the Citrus County School District, students and families we serve,” Burdette said. She also highlighted the foundation’s in‑kind support, which the foundation estimates exceeds $1 million annually through donated supplies and services.
Burdette described an emergent family/hurricane relief fund that distributed just over $299,000 to assist 64 staff members and families following storm damage and related needs. She said the foundation will meet with the superintendent and senior staff to review program alignments and opportunities for scalability going into the next school year.
Board members praised the foundation’s role and close relationship with district leadership; no board action was required.
