The Bedford County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved rezoning application RZ25-0004 to change a 6.52-acre parcel (RPC 21007702) adjacent to 2541 Morgans Church Road from C-2 (commercial) to AP (agriculture and production). Abigail Currington of the Division of Planning presented the staff report; she said the Planning Commission held a public hearing on June 3, 2025, heard no citizen objections, and recommended approval by a 5–0 vote.
The applicant, Linda Bauer, told the board, "A little mini farm when we retire." She said the plan is to build a home in four to five years and that the family purchased the parcel because it is relatively flat.
The staff presentation described the parcel’s current zoning and surrounding land uses and said no voluntary proffers were submitted. Planning staff recommended approval. Supervisor Johnson moved to approve ordinance 0062325-04; Supervisor Davis seconded. The board approved the ordinance by roll call.
The ordinance changes the parcel’s zoning designation from commercial to agricultural/production and allows the applicant to pursue site plan review consistent with the AP district and the county’s ordinance standards.
