The Racine Unified School District Legislative Committee voted unanimously Monday to forward a slate of local business honorees to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards for possible inclusion in the WASB business honor roll.
Committee Chair Brian O'Connell said the nominees were drawn from district events and local business organizations and recommended following past practice by submitting the list. "We have submitted for the past several years," O'Connell said during the meeting.
The committee's submission includes the City of Racine Fire Department, Aurora Health, Kirk Incorporated and the United Way of Racine County. Board members said they supported recognizing the honorees for their partnership with the district. A motion to forward the list to the full board passed on a roll call with all members present voting yes.
The honor roll is compiled by WASB and published in its monthly magazine; districts may submit business partners for recognition. The committee did not draft a separate resolution or expenditure related to the nominations and only acted to forward the list to the full board for final consideration.
The committee approved its Oct. 28, 2024 minutes earlier in the meeting before taking up the honor-roll nominations.
